Hanbok Shopping in Seoul at Leesle

At the top of my list of must buys in Korea are daily hanbok or modern clothes and accessories inspired by traditional Korean designs. And while there are many amazing Korean designers out there, Leesle continues to dominate the top of my recommendation list.

A Hanbok for Every Season

Leesle is one of my go to hanbok brands. They have everything from pants and skirts to dresses and even t-shirts. Their products are always good quality and they are one of the more body-type and gender inclusive brands here in Korea. They carry sizes S, M and L as well as unisex clothes and clothes for men.

Their daily hanbok were some of the first I ever bought back in 2018 and their styles have only diversified over time. Last winter my husband bought me their 3-Way Soft Hem Skirt with a complimenting Winter Forest Wool Jeogori as a birthday gift and it’s honestly one of the prettiest hanboks I own. It just screams winter magic!

While I love their daily hanbok, I really love seeing all the creative ways they take motifs from traditional hanbok fashion and reinterpret them for the modern world through t-shirts, jackets, hoodies and all kinds of casual wear. I have so many of their comfy sweatshirts and t-shirts!

Custom Accessories

And as if that weren’t enough, they now offer custom norigae that you can design and put together yourself. Norigae are traditional Korean tassels typically worn on hanboks, but now a lot of people wear them on their non-traditional clothes, bags, and even hair clips.

They have a lot of tassels and decorations to choose from which can be overwhelming, but the staff are really helpful and they even have a few sample designs to use as reference. Once we picked out our pieces and got some advice on how to put them together, the rest was left to us.

It actually wasn’t too difficult and only took about 10 minutes to piece together. My husband and I went in totally different directions but I love how they both turned out. Then we were completely done they packaged them up for us and voila! The perfect souvenir to commemorate your Korea trip or even a gift for someone else.

While you don’t need a reservation to shop at the store, I highly recommend making one for the norigae making. Each time slot only has room for 5 people, so If you want to secure your spot, definitely make a reservation through their website.

Where is Leesle in Hongdae?

I used to love going to Leesle’s old Hongdae location every season to check out their new designs and clothes. But it was a little cramped and the lighting wasn’t great.

Recently, they moved to a new location in Hongdae that’s much bigger and has much better lighting. Just for that alone, it’s worth the visit!
