Pikachu’s Autumn Outing: Pokémon Hanbok Pop-Up at HiKR Ground in Seoul

Pokémon Mega Festa 2026 continues here in Seoul with a gorgeous pop-up inspired by Korean minhwa (민화), or traditional folk painting, complete with Korean-inspired scenery, autumn imagery and traditional architecture. Oh and did I mention “Hanbok Pikachu”? Yes, lots and lots of hanbok wearing Pikachu just in time for Chuseok.

Welcome to Pikachu’s Autumn Outing (피카츄의 가을 나들이) at HiKR Ground in central Seoul. This isn’t one of those pop-ups you can walk through in five minutes, take three photos and leave. There are exhibitions, photo zones, experiences, a Pokémon GO connection, a stamp rally and an entire Pokémon merchandise shop spread throughout HiKR Ground. Basically, if you like Pokémon, you’re going to want to leave some room in your Seoul itinerary for this one.

I’m not going to lie, the pop-up is mostly photo zones. But they’re beautiful immersive photo zones. From a neon lit Seoul subway car and “outdoor” bus stop to a traditional Korean courtyard and lotus pond, trust me when I say you won’t want to skip any of them. Not to mention all the beautiful traditional folk style paintings, scrolls and artwork displayed throughout the exhibition space.

As for the interactive elements, there’s an actual noraebang where you can sing Pokémon songs, a trading card game area where you can win some stickers and a photo booth where you can take pictures with an exclusive Pokémon border. There’s also a special Pokémon GO event where you can catch a Pikachu wearing an orange hanbok. The special Pikachu can be caught by spinning the “Hanbok Pikachu” PokéStops around Jongno-gu and Jung-gu in Seoul and at the HiKR Station at Incheon International Airport. You can also get some by completing Pikachu’s Autumn Trail Timed Research in the game.

But my personal favorite would have to be the stamp rally. If you collect at least 2 different stamps throughout the pop-up, you get a Korea exclusive 30th anniversary hanbok Pikachu sticker. Honestly the pop-up is worth going to for this alone. And while we’re on the topic of freebies, you can get a hanbok Pikachu sun visor if you follow Pokémon Korea on Instagram. You can also get a Hisuian Growlithe sun visor if you make a social media post with the appropriate hashtags.

And what would a Pokémon pop-up be without merch and a toy capsule area?! You can get your hands on exclusive merchandise including traditional minhwa style scrolls, hanbok Pikachu bag charms, vintage embroidered jackets, traditional celadon bags and antique leather plushies. The shop itself is run via QR code. Simply add to cart, hit purchase and you will be messaged when your order is ready. This also means no cash, so keep that in mind.

The capsule toy area is card only and there are some exclusive items like signature collection keyrings, hinge badges and even a Magikarp amulet keyring. There are also a few items from previous Pokémon Mega Festa events like the coveted Magikarp stress ball. So if you missed out on something before, now might be your chance to grab it.

The pop-up does require an on-site reservation. Simply enter your e-mail or a Korean phone number into the kiosk to be added to the digital queue and a message will be sent to you when it’s your turn to enter. I recommend going early on a weekday for a way less crowded experience and short wait time. Also if you’re planning to grab the free Pikachu visor, going earlier gives you a better shot at getting one before the daily supply runs out.
