Tears on a Withered Flower Pop-Up Seoul: Taeha’s Room Guide

You probably already know that Seoul LOVES a good pop-up. But every once in a while, one comes along that feels like it was truly made for the fans. Enter Tears on a Withered Flower (시든 꽃에 눈물을). The hugely popular romance webtoon has officially taken over the Yongsan I’Park Mall’s webtoon pop-up zone.

One thing I really like about Korean webtoon pop-ups is that they’re rarely just about selling merchandise. There’s usually some attempt to turn the story itself into an experience like with the Villains are Destined to Die cafe pop-up I went to last year and again with this one. So instead of filling a room with merch and calling it a day, Naver Webtoon recreated “Taeha’s Room” giving fans the chance to step directly into the world of the webtoon itself. And while it’s an all ages webtoon internationally, in Korea it’s actually an adult title. So there’s also special spicy section of the pop-up that requires an ID check. It’s all these little details that make these events so fun.

But obviously, we do need to talk about the merch. The Seoul pop-up features 60 different products in total with 27 new items, 25 of their most popular existing items and 8 volumes of the physical book series including some really cool special editions. The new merch includes things like acrylic stands, plushies, bag charms and cushions, among other items. There are also some seriously beautiful art prints. Whether you’re looking for something small to take home or you’re the type of person who wants to completely redecorate your room with your favorite fictional guy… there are options.

If you’re a fan of the series, you’re definitely going to want to check out pop-up’s on-site photo card kiosk. It features 17 different photo cards that are exclusive to this event. The cards are dispensed at random and at 5,000 KRW a piece. This is a fairly dangerous game to play. Particularly if you’re after a specific card. But if you like the thrill of not knowing exactly which character or item you’re going to get, there’s also a capsule toy zone. We simply can’t have a Korean pop-up without one.
