Seoul Spring Festival 2026: What to Expect + Best Things to Do (Han River Guide)

There’s a very specific moment every year in Seoul where the city blossoms. The air gets warmer. People stay outside longer. The Han River starts filling up again. And right now, that moment is happening. The Seoul Spring Festival isn’t just one event, it’s the whole city turning itself into a giant, ongoing experience. So, if you’re in Seoul right now, this is what you’re actually stepping into.

This year, the Seoul Spring Festival spans across 10 Han river parks with over 50 events and programs to enjoy! But with so much to do and so little time, I decided to check out Yeouido Hangang Park which is the main hub for this year’s festival. Depending on when you go, there are a whole bunch of different events and activities to enjoy, everything from musical performances, rides and flea markets to food stalls, night shows and drone shows right along the river.

One of the highlights this year would have to be the Hangang Carousel. Imagine taking a ride on a carousel that overlooks a shimmering river. It’s absolutely fairytale coded and completely free. Another unique and free experience would be the Joy Swing. This giant swing sits on the rooftop of a 4 story building to give you a bit of an aerial view of the river below. There is a hight requirement, for this, so if you’re accompanied by small children they might not be allowed to ride for safety reasons. You can, however, request to have them sit on the swing for a cute photo op.

As for food, the options are endless. There are a few restaurants right along the river, as well as convenience stores with ramen cooking stations. You can also order delivery and enjoy picnicking in the park, but we personally can never get enough of food stall snacks. We always keep a look out for snacks that can’t be easily found elsewhere which is why we landed on roasted potatoes (a popular rest stop snack) and some crispy potato wrapped shrimp. Absolutely delicious!

And of course the festivities don’t stop when the sun goes down. On the contrary, the night comes to life with live musical performances, fireworks and even a drone light show. This spring the Hangang Drone Light Show has 5 shows planned for the spring season. Every show this spring will have a different theme and admission is completely FREE! One of my favorites was definitely the k-pop demon hunters show last fall, and they started off pretty strong this season with a BTS BT21 show. So I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us this spring.

The Seoul Spring Festival isn’t about enjoying one big moment, it’s about taking in a bunch of small ones instead. Catching a random performance. Taking a carousel ride right on the river. Eating some tteokbokki while hundreds of drones light up the night sky. It’s about ending up with a bunch of small experiences that will definitely accumulate into one amazing memory. And if you’re there at the right time, it’ll kind of feel like you caught Seoul at exactly the moment you were supposed to. So be sure to check out the program details down below to plan your next visit!
