Clio is one of Korea’s most popular beauty brands and they just launched a Harry Potter collaboration that’s nothing short of magical. So it’s fitting there is be an equally magical pop-up to celebrate the release. I’m not going to lie, I have been anticipating this ever since they started hinting at it on their Instagram back in February.

Hogwarts Meets Olive Young in Seongsu-dong
The pop-up is being held at the Olive Young over in Seongsu-dong, the Mecca of Seoul’s pop-up scene. While the pop-up looks massive from the outside, the space is actually quite small, so they only let in a handful of people at a time. But luckily I went during lunch time on a weekday and waited less than 10 minutes to get in.



Before entering I was given a stamp rally pamphlet and I got to choose a sorting hat for a chance to receive a prize. I won a 10% off coupon, which I ended up using at the end of the pop-up. Once inside, I was completely transported to this Harry Potter inspired k-beauty alternate timeline. Even the staff was in full on house robes, which I thought was a really nice touch.
Pop-Up Missions and Freebies
The space itself is divided into 3 “mission zones.” The first is the Eye Pallete Zone. Here you can check out the three different pallete designs based on Harry, Hermione and Ron. You also get to play a game where you place the correct colors into a giant eyeshadow pallete.

Next is the Cushion Zone. This was a photo zone based around their beautiful Lumos Cushion. All you have to do is upload a picture with the proper hashtags to get the stamp. Then it’s on to the final zone, the Glam Tint Zone. Here you have to recreate the lip tint “formula” by matching the colored balls with the correct tint.



Once I completed all the missions, they gave me a wand to cast a spell into a mirror and receive a free lenticular keyring. The keyring I got depended on the image that appeared in the mirror. I got Hermione and the staff was really happy for me. It was such a cute experience.

Of course at the end is the actual shop. What I love about the products for this collaboration is that everything comes with some sort of cute freebie. The eye palettes come with a Marauders Map pouch, the glam tints come with a keyring & pen and the cushion comes with either a Hedwig or Doby plushie keyring. It really is such a thoughtfully put together collaboration, down to the art on the boxes. Even the shopping bag you get with your purchase is made to look like Harry’s suitcase.



While you can purchase this collab at any Olive Young, if you spend at least ₩30,000 at the pop-up you get a free exclusive Ron, Hermione or Harry plushie keyring, a sticker sheet and a raffle entry for a chance to win a free trip to Universal Studios Japan. You also get a chance to pick a key and try to literally unlock a free prize (a limited edition wand or Harry Potter makeup kit). Unfortunately I didn’t choose the right one, but it was still fun to try.



Needless to say, this pop-up was definitely worth leaving the comfort of my own home to attend. If you happen to be a Potterhead in Seoul, you definitely won’t want to miss out.
