Teterot Salon: Korean Fashion and Modern Hanboks

I have shared so many of my favorite Korean designers and hanbok brands, but I’ve never shared the one that started it all (for me). Teterot Salon (때때롯살롱) used to just be Chima Jeogori (치마저고리), a tiny indie shop in Sinchon that sold me my first daily hanboks back in 2016. I guess you could say it was my gateway brand because, honestly, there was no looking back after that.

Teterot takes traditional Korean clothing elements and blends them with current fashion trends, so you get unique hanbok pieces that fit perfectly into your daily life. Needless to say they’ve grown quite a bit since 2016 and have expanded their designs to include everything from pants and skirts to sets and jackets. They’ve got plus sizes, unisex and even t-shirts, they have a little something for everyone.

They even have their own factory, which means all of their fabrics and designs are produced right here in Korea, so you know you’re going home with an authentic hanbok.

Teterot Salon is tucked away in Ikseon-dong, one of Seoul’s trendiest hanok neighborhoods. So naturally the shop is housed in a beautiful repurposed hanok (tradtional Korean house), which couldn’t be more perfect setting for these designs. Think warm wooden beams, tiled roof, old wooden doors and plenty of natural light. The layout is neat, calm and intimate, with pieces thoughtfully displayed and enough space to browse without feeling crowded. It definitely gives those boutique vibes and yes, there are fitting rooms to try on the clothes.

For such and intimate showroom, they have a surprisingly large selection of clothes and accessories. To be honest it was a little overwhelming for me personally, so I asked the staff to put some things together that would look nice on me and well… they delivered. Maybe they delivered a little too well because I had a really hard time narrowing it down. But in the end I came out of it with an amazingly comfortable gray casual pant suit.

If you’re looking to dip your toes into Korean fashion, want something with a subtle traditional Korean flair or are simply looking for a unique souvenir to take back home, this is the perfect place to do it! And one of the best things about this brand is that they do international shipping! So if you fall in love the brand (like I did) you can always order more from abroad.
