Things to Do in Korea in March, 2025

March is officially the start of spring, warm weather, cafe culture, and (of course) cherry blossom season. It’s time to put away our winter coats as cafes prepare their outdoor seating just in time for airline tickets to start going up. There’s more to see, eat and experience, but that also means larger crowds.

TEMPERATURE

This year, Korea’s experiencing early-spring cold snaps when the temperature dips below zero. In fact, we’re expecting a bit of snow on March 3rd and 4th. So if you’re visiting during the first week of March, expect the temperature to dip as low as -8°C (17.6°F) at night while the day will fluctuate between C (35.6°F) and 11°C (51.8°F).

The temperatures in March are going to roughly be 17°C (62.6°F) at the highest and 0°C (32°F) at the coldest. Near the end of the month, daytime temperatures will get warmer still and we can also expect slightly warmer nights. However, it’ll be mostly chilly days and cold nights until we get to April.

If you’re planning on visiting one of the many cherry blossom festivals in Korea, you’ll want to visit close to the full-bloom dates, but before any heavy rains. The festivals in Jinhae and Jeju are scheduled for the end of March, but fesitvals like Yeouido and Seokchon are set for early-April.

What to Wear

After a long winter, we’re all looking forward to spring fashion for the next few months. Personally, we wear our winter jackets until it stays consistently above 5°C (which will be most likely be mid to late-March). During the day, layers of long sleeves, sweaters, fleece stockings and jackets will do, but the nights will still chilly so keep that in mind.

EVENTS

Cherry Blossom Festivals

The biggest events in March are the cherry blossom festivals celebrated throughout the country. This year, the festivities are set to start in Jeju on March 22nd with Seoul festivals starting in late March and going into April.
