Shanghai Disneyland has some of the best rides in the world. But how does their food hold up? From the best waffle we’ve ever had to the worst bun we’ve ever seen, this is Everything We Ate at Shanghai Disneyland.

Pork Floss Bun from a Frontierland Cart
Pork buns are a staple in many Asian cultures. And, being that we’re well-traveled folks, we thought a nice savory snack would be just the thing to power us through our Shanghai Disney adventure. Instead, we were treated to a flakey, mildly pork-flavored bun filled with a sweet cream. And worst of all, it was cold. While it might be a case of culture clash, it was quite possibly the worst thing we’ve ever eaten in Asia.
RATING: Avoid at all costs.
Mickey Pretzel from a Fantasyland Cart
This pretzel was one of our first tastes of Shanghai Disneyland and it fell short of our expectations. It was an upgrade from the pork floss bun, but the lack of salt and flavor made it unexpectedly dull. The pretzel came with mustard, which added some much needed flavor. But compared to similar fare at California Adventure, we were a bit disappointed.
RATING: Okay. But not as good as other parks.
Mike Wazowski Bread on Mainstreet
Warning, this bun looks worse than it is. While the one-eyed monster may look like he’s emitting a silent scream, his horrifying countenance belies a secret. This bun is tastey! It’s a good European-style bread with cranberries. We were worried because the bun looked stiff, but it was actually quite soft and kept us well-fed during a morning of exploring the park.
RATING: His unblinking gaze will stare into your soul. But he’s delicious so it’s all cool.

Sea Salt Caramel Hot Chocolate on Mainstreet
Our first collectable cup of the trip and it was so affordable, it felt foolish not to buy it. The hot chocolate was exactly what you’d expect for Disneyland (DELICIOUS). But even better was the Sea Salt Caramel Hot Chocolate which was a delightful spin on the original. The cup was one of our favorite trinkets for this entire trip. We would recommend the hot chocolate at any park and Shanghai is no exception.
RATING: Delicious Disneyland hot chocolate and a free cup!
Egg Tarts from Toy Story Land
If there’s a European recipe that Asian culture has whole-heartedly adopted more than egg tarts, I don’t know it. These were much closer to Hong Kong style than European style, which makes sense considering the region we were in. Unfortunately, the egg tart ended up being wildly mediocre.
RATING: Good for a light snack, but not much else.
Cherry Popcorn from Toy Story Land
It’s still early days at Shanghai Disneyland. So much so that the only popcorn buckets available in the park were Mickey, Minnie, and Lotso. Eventually, we were tempted enough try the popcorn which was… cherry flavored! It was surprisingly addictive, with the only downside being that the popcorn buckets were much smaller than the ones at other Disney parks. So I’d say skip the bucket and pork out on more cherry popcorn.
RATING: Worth every kernel.
Mickey Waffles with Green Tea Soft Serve on Mainstreet
This is probably the best soft serve ice cream I’ve had at any Disney park in the world. The ice cream came garnished with mini marshmallows, choloate sticks and an adorable golden pig. While it tasted wonderful, the ice cream tasted great as a dipping sauce for the Mickey waffle.
RATING: Absolutely tea-lightful.
Minnie Chocolate Donut on Mainstreet
When it comes to frosted donuts, we at SeoulSearching are a bit split. But the Minnie Frosted Donut is fun to take pictures of and eat. It’s not overly sweet, but it is a solid donut that won’t disappoint. That being said, it was visually the best thing we ordered at the park. And if you’re not convinced, just look at our photos. It is the essence of Disney magic.
RATING: Everyone should order at least one.
Donald Waffles from Mainstreet
Mickey Waffles on Mainstreet are a must at any Disney park. To date, we’ve had them in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Paris. We never could’ve imagined that Mickey’s anger-impaired friend could some how top the mouse himself. Let it be known that the Donald Waffles at Shanghai are filled with ham and cheese. That’s right folks, a glorious savory breakfast waffle. All hail the new king of Disney waffles.
RATING: All hail Donald, long may his breakfast waffle reign.
