Knock Knock K-Food Festival with RJ of BT21

The city of Seoul has really ramped up their festival line up for the summer this year. In fact, it seems like there’s always something going no matter what day of the week it is. This rings especially true for the Gwanghwamun Knock Knock K-Food Festival that will run all year until the middle of 2025.

We’re not sure about you, but food festivals are our favorite type of festival and this one is certainly no exception. The K-Food Festival showcases 15 food trucks serving all sorts of different Korean street foods, from walnut cream cheese persimmon rolls, and sweet pumpkin sikhye to Korean hot dogs and savory chicken skewers.

There’s definitely something there for everyone. Honestly, we had a hard time narrowing down what to order. But in the end, we opted for the sweet and spicy chicken with sweet potatoes (고구마 닭강정) which was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Adding sweet potatoes instead of the typical tater tots was a pleasant change of pace and definitely elevated the dish.

Our second pick was the kimchi bacon cheese pancake. I mean, if you haven’t eat a Korean pancake in Korea, did you even really go? Kimchi pancakes are our favorite and this one really kicked things up a notch with the addition of thin slices of pork belly, melted mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. So unbelievably good!

All the food trucks have kiosks set up where you can easily order in English, Chinese, and Japanese and pay with card (cash is not accepted). There are also plenty of dining and rest areas where you can comfortably enjoy your food. We didn’t have any trouble grabbing a table since people are continuously coming and going.

What about BT21’s RJ?

In addition to the food trucks, there will also be stage performances, photo zones, handmade craft pop-up stores, and interactive events during major holidays. Right now the event is being hosted by RJ of BT21 and until the end of June you can take a picture with an adorable inflatable RJ and receive a free RJ hand fan. Supplies are limited to 150 fans per day, so make sure to arrive early to get your hands on one.

For the diehard fans, we recommend lining up early and taking your photo with RJ as soon as he’s inflated. The staff there doesn’t need to see you take a picture, but they do check the photo in order to give you a fan.

When is the Knock Knock K-Food Festival?

The festival runs every Wednesday to Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. However, it may be canceled due to weather conditions, like monsoon rains which we’ll start expecting at the end of June, so be sure check their official website or Instagram before visiting.

  • When: Until May 31, 2025 (Wednesday to Sunday)
  • Where: Sejong-ro Park (Naver MapGoogle Maps)
  • Time: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

How much does it cost?

This is totally going to depend on how much food you order. We went with two dishes and no drinks except for a water from a nearby vending machine. In our case, we spent around 20,000 KRW and walked away relatively full. I would expect to spend about 10,000 KRW per person if you’re going for food and 15,000 KRW if you’re going to get drinks as well.
