I Need Robot Feet

Bloganuary writing prompt
What do you complain about the most?

It’s bound to happen at least once during a trip. One moment, we’re drinking coffee in Tokyo taking pictures of owls and the next I’m waking up in a hotel room wishing that my feet would just fall off already.

And it’s not like we don’t train for our travels. Lexi and I live in Seoul, a city of steps. A normal day is a minimum of 10,000 steps and if we’re going hiking, more than likely we’re hitting 15,000 to 20,000. Thanks to multiple near “foot death” experiences, we’ve learned to travel light and wear comfortable shoes. Insoles, if possible. But that doesn’t mean we don’t wake up the next day with our calves on fire and knees that feel all wobbly.

Which is why I’d like to request robot feet. Just two, I’m not greedy as long as they’re built to last. Mine seem to reach their limits far too often and far too often, I feel limited by my feet. The worst offender was probably Thailand. We walked the streets of Chiang Mai for four days before we finally made our way to a Thai masseuse for a couple massage. There, two Thai women more or less tortured us until we squeaked for them to please let up. Surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly?), we left feeling lighter and better than we had in weeks. Feet included.

But unfortunately, Thai massages aren’t affordable enough for daily top-ups so I’d like to request some robot feet. Again, just two. Thank you.
