Everything Bagel in Yeonhuidong

Seoul has gone on a bagel-craze off and on over the years. While there are always a few trendy and viral spots floating around social media, Everything Bagel is the only spot you really need to know about. No hate to other shops, but if you want an authentic New York-style bagel, no place in Seoul hits quite like this.

We’ve been going to Everything Bagel since it opened back in 2016. The NY-inspired bagel shop makes their bagels fresh daily, but it’s the vibe that really makes an impression. Everything from the subway maps to the corny cartoon bagels screams New York. The cherry on the cake is the pot of self-serve drip coffee instead of the traditional americanos that are sold throughout Seoul.

While the shop itself is small, with only a handful tables, they have a surprisingly large selection of bagels. The flavors range from plain, onion and everything to cinnamon raisin, sun-dried tomato and rainbow. My personal favorite is their Kimcheese bagel. It’s a savory combination of kimchi seasoning and shredded cheese and a definite must-try in my book.

In addition to their daily flavors they also have special weekend flavors and even holiday bagels like Taegukgi bagels for Korean Independence Day or red and green bagels for Christmas. This year they even made a Valentine’s Day bagel with a special chocolate covered strawberry cream cheese to pair it with.

Which brings me to their nice selection of homemade cream cheeses because what good is a delicious bagel with out an equally delicious cream cheese to go with it. They typically have 6 flavors on hand (scallion, maple walnut, blueberry, plain, spinach bacon, smoked salmon), but occasionally they’ll throw in a special seasonal flavor like yuzu wasabi, apple pie and my personal favorite, pumpkin spice.

And of course, if you’re looking for something a bit heavier, they make the best bagel sandwiches, from cream cheese & lox to pastrami. If you’re a breakfast lover, I recommend my personal favorite, the “Fat Man.” This comes with bacon, egg, cheese, hash brown, ham and mayo sandwiched in between the bagel of your choosing. If you want a bit of a kick, pair it with the Kimcheese bagel.

While most bagels you come across in Seoul tend to lean towards a softer, bready, almost pastry like texture, these are dense, chewy with a crisp shiny crust. Not that the former is bad, they are definitely delicious in their own respect, just not REALLY a bagel. And, if I’m being honest, when I have a real bagel craving, no other bagel will do.

Where is Everything Bagel?

Everything Bagel is located near Saruga Market in Yeonhui-dong which is +15 minute walk from Hongdae Station. The quickest way there is to take a bus which cuts down on the walking time immensely.

  • Address:
    • 29 Yeonhui-ro 11-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Google Maps)
    • 서울 서대문구 연희동 130-2 (Naver Map)

If you’re in the neighborhood, there are actually tons of delicious snacks and restaurants to choose from. If you’re looking for something light, we recommend chysanthemum flower-shaped gukhwappang. Then again, there’s always the many restaurants and snacks of Yeonnamdong to explore just next door.
