Mariber Studio Seoul: Make Your Own Silver Ring in Yeonnam-dong

There are plenty of places in Seoul where you can buy jewelry. But what if you could make your own?

Just a short walk from Hongdae and tucked away in Yeonnam-dong, Mariber Studio offers one of the cutest and most unique workshops I’ve come across in Seoul. Instead of browsing display cases, you’ll shape, carve, fire, polish, and finish a genuine sterling silver ring or charm that you design yourself.

Rather than traditional metalworking techniques, Mariber Studio uses a high quality special silver clay that can only be found in Japan. It feels soft to the touch like clay during the creative process, but it’s fired at high temperatures, burning away the binding agents and leaving behind 99.9% silver. You aren’t making costume jewelry, you’re making real silver jewelry.

As far as the design process goes, your ring can be as simple or as extra as you want. There are plenty of stones to choose from in all different colors, shapes and sizes. You can even have it engraved with writing, characters or symbols. And if you don’t know where to start, there are plenty of sample rings to help get your creative juices flowing.

The class requires absolutely no experience and the instructor was amazing at walking us through every step and even stepping in to help us achieve our vision (as well as making sure we didn’t ruin our rings). As it turns out, my mom was a complete natural and she was so amazed by the whole experience. It was definitely one of the highlights of her visit.

The whole process only takes about 2 hours and it’s the perfect activity to do with your friends, significant other or even your mom. Honestly I’d even recommend this to solo travelers because it’s such a personal and unique experience.

I’ve done plenty of different workshops in Seoul, but Mariber Studio stands out because it strikes the perfect balance between creativity and accessibility. You don’t need artistic experience and you don’t need to speak fluent Korean. You simply show up, have fun, and leave with something that you’ll probably treasure long after your trip ends. If you’re looking for one of Seoul’s most memorable hidden gems, this is it.
