Yeonnamdong Cherry Blossom House in Seoul

Every year for about one week to two weeks during spring, Yeonnamdong Cherry Blossom House becomes the most popular cafe for miles amongst locals, tourists, and overseas travelers. The wait for seating is routinely over one hour long with small crowds forming before the cafe even opens in the morning.

Honestly, I’ve walked by on my morning commute to see waiters setting up the digital kiosk while tourists wait outside with their luggage. Yes, that’s right. People will be beeline here from the airport just to get the chance of sitting outside during spring.

And you know what? It’s worth it.

Beauty, Inside and Out

For about 10 months out of the year, this cafe is beautiful but there isn’t much that stands out about it. The cafe was converted from a three-story home with a small front yard to the hotspot it is today. Someone still lives on the top floor and they very graciously allow the cafe to use the terrace for outdoor seating.

The giant tree outside is quite beautiful, but to be honest it doesn’t have much of a unique draw. Until cherry blossom season. When it blooms, it draws the eye of everyone on the street and in the park across the way. In fact, it’s a popular photo spot for wedding photographers who make daily pilgrimages to the street with their clients in tow.

Inside, the cafe has been lovingly decorated, but it still feels like a home. The seating is cozy without being overly crowded and the window seats give you a nice view of the street and the park. While the outdoor seating is better for photos or vibing, the indoor window seats are a close second.

A Menu in Pink

A cherry blossom cafe wouldn’t be complete without some delicious drinks and snacks to round out the menu. There are plenty of baked goods like cakes and madelines on the menu, but the Blossom Cream Latte is the real star of the show. It’s a bit on the sweeter side, but it photographs beautifully. It’s also delicious.

On one of our visits, we rounded it out with a slice of tiramisu and a latte that came with this adorable bear latte art. The food and drinks are priced at a premium, but no more than most other themed snacks during the season.

Where is the Yeonnamdong Cherry Blossom House?

The closest subway station is Hondgae Station on the no. 2 and Airport Railroad line. That means it’s literally a straight shot from Incheon Airport and Gimpo airport if you’re flying in from abroad.

You’ll want to take exit 3 from Hongdae Station and walk straight along the park. It’s about 10 – 15 minutes from the subway station and it’ll be located on your right. You can’t miss it.
