Seoul’s Pokemon Town 2025, EVERYTHING You Need to Know

Pokémon Town 2025 has officially begun here in Seoul. This year’s theme is the “Metamong Project” and if you’re not familiar with metamong, it’s just the Korean name for Ditto. Once again Lotte World Mall is hosting the event complete with games, prizes, and, of course, photo zones. With so much going on, the event can be a bit chaotic and hard to navigate, so here’s everything you need to know including all the freebies that you can get.

QR Stamp Rally

The main draw of Pokémon Town this year is the QR Stamp Rally. There are 6 different QR codes set up both inside and outside the mall. And each code is accompanied by one of these super cute Pokémon card photo zones.

You only need to collect one stamp to receive a Korea exclusive shiny Lapras and Pikachu Ditto card, but if you collect all 6 you also get the matching sticker. Once you collect your stamps, you can receive the gifts in the main festival area, which can take quite a while if you go on a weekend. It took us about an hour to get ours.

Metamong Mass Outbreak Dream

This year, the Pokemon Town pop-up area is located on the lawn behind Lotte World Mall between it and the Seokchon Lake. Here you can check out a bunch of different booths with games, freebies and photo zones. Unlike last year, there is no waiting time to get into this area, but unfortunately that means longer lines and bigger unorganized crowds. It also means that the freebies can run out rather quickly.

We recommend arriving earlier, rather than later in order to get the most out of the event because supplies can be limited and it honestly takes a little while to collect all the freebies. Speaking of which…

There’s a large capsule machine which offers visitors either a yellow or purple capsule which you can turn in for either the Ditto sun visor or the Ditto Pikachu sun visor. If you head over to the Pokemon GO booth, you can get a Pokemon folder with a handle and a card to receive in-game items if you show them a Ditto you’ve caught on the day you visit. At the Uniqlo booth you can get a strip of stickers if you follow them on Instagram. At the center of the festival area is Ditto’s Secret Club House where you can get a Ditto sticker. Finally, if you visit the Pikachu plushy bedroom, you can pick up a Pikachu picket which is actually just really cute.

Metamong Photo Time

One of the cutest events of Pokémon Town is Ditto photo time, where you can have a quick meet n’ greet with Pikachu and Ditto Pikachu. Each session is only 20 minutes long, so getting in line at least 10 minutes before is key. We asked one of the staff members where to go and they pointed out a small square that had been roped off. It was really easy to miss and there were about 6 people there when we arrived, but trust us when we say the line got SUPER long just a few minutes later.

Also, to keep things moving along efficiently, each group is only allowed to take 2 photos. The experience goes by so quickly, you don’t really get the chance to bask in the awesomeness of Ditto Pikachu, but the picture is definitely worth it.

Metamong Time Capsule Pop-Up Store

The Metamong Time Capsule pop-up store is located in the atrium on the 1st floor of the mall with onsite registration outside of the mall at gate 12. We arrived at 10:30 AM and there was already a long line wrapping around the mall. Needless to say it took almost an hour to even get to the kiosk.

We ended up entering the pop-up around 1:30 PM and it was filled with lots of cute photo zones and of course capsules machines. Rather than filling the pop-up with merch, it was filled with capsule machines where you could pay for the merch of your choosing (card only) and then take the capsule to the counter to receive the actual product.

It’s a real cute concept, however the event exclusive merch is available in very VERY limited quantities. So, by the time we got in, everything was completely sold out and to be honest, nothing else was really worth buying. It was really disappointing to say the least.

Metamong Capsule Toy Zone

Separate from the pop-up store is the Metamong Capsule Toy Zone. This area has a couple dozen capsule machines with official Pokemon toys from Japan. There are figures, keyrings, magnets, stickers and a bunch of other cute items. My favorite would have to be the “shake shake keyrings” with different versions of ditto inside. So cute!

This pop-up is located near the pop-up store, and it’s almost impossible to miss. If you’re having trouble finding it, just ask one of the staff and they’ll point you in the right direction.

Lapras & Pikachu Exhibition

Like last year, Lapras and Pikachu have once again returned to grace Seokchon Lake with their presence, only this time in Ditto form. It’s impossible to miss this massive derpy faced duo floating out on the lake and while there aren’t any activities in the area, there are still tons of people there taking pictures or just enjoying the view. I’ve got to say, I like this one even better than last years!

Pokemon Card Shop & Pokemon Pocket

The Pokemon Card Shop and Pokemon Pocket pop-ups are located all the way over by the Trevi Fountain near the entrance to Lotte World. You’ll have to make the trek over for the QR code stamp rally if you want the sticker, but also if you want to pick up some boxes of Pokemon cards during your visit.

If you’re a card collector, the card shop is completely stocked with booster boxes for sale along with a few games to play for a chance to win some small prizes (while supplies last). And at the Pokemon Pocket booth you can receive free credits to use in the game.

If you’re a Pokemon fan, this is definitely not something you’ll want to miss. And if you’ve got extra time on your hands, you may even want to head over to Lotte World for their Pokemon World Adventure Spring Camp which will be going until May 25th. There has really never been a better time to be a Pokemon fan.
