Seafood in Oido: an Oceanside Daytrip Outside of Seoul

Oido (오이도) is a coastal area located in Siheung City just southwest of Seoul. For those of us who live in Seoul, it’s a pretty popular destination for day trips and weekend getaways, particularly during the warmer months. Since it’s a pretty easy one and a half hour trip there by subway, it’s a great way to enjoy those costal city vibes without having to go all the way east to Gangneung or down south to Busan.

Cafe Eero: Seoul’s Trendy Haechi Cafe

There’s something about mythical creatures from Asian cultures that has be obsessed. From Bali’s barong to Okinawa’s shisa, I have a small army of handcrafted creatures adorning my shelves at home. And while there are a lot of interesting mythical creatures in Korean folklore, the haechi has always been my favorite and that’s kind of why I feel this cafe was made for me.

Everything I Ate in Okinawa

Whether I travel alone or with a companion, I always plan my itinerary in a very food centric way. In other words, I go where the food is. It is, in my humble opinion, the best way to take in the culture of any given place.
Recently I had the opportunity to spend a full day in Okinawa, a place rich in culture and I was determined to eat it all! So here’s everything I ate in a day in Osaka and why you should too.

Beyond Korea

The Trip Not Yet Taken

I really want to go Taipei. Primarily for the food. The street food scene, I mean… Asian cuisine is just so good. And from everything I’ve seen, it seems like heaven for people who want to eat their way through a city.

I really want to see that place in Taipei that part of Spirited Away is based off. I want to see shrines and ancient places that I can’t see anywhere else. I want to take in the culture. And the nightlife… not clubbing. But I guess that’s eating again.

Everything We Ate in Yeosu, South Korea – Part 1

Yeosu is an absolutely magical city with so much to see and eat that… well, we stuffed ourselves to the point of bursting. And then we ate some more.
It’s really the best compliment we can give to a city. Every restaurant had something amazing that we’d never seen before. Or maybe a beloved dish with a different interpretation we couldn’t wait to try. Or maybe something so weird and strange we just couldn’t help ourselves.
Whatever it was, we indulged. And this? This is everything we ate in Yeosu, South Korea.
