Super Moon Project @ Seokchon Lake

Super Moon Project @ Seokchon Lake

It seems like there is a new art exhibition gracing the surface of Seokchon Lake every year. In 2014 it was the “Rubber Duck” and in 2015 “1600 Pandas.” Both projects drew out huge crowds, especially over the weekends. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have braved the crowds to see them both.Super MoonRainbow Super MoonTwinkling Stars

This year the “Super Moon” project is lighting up the lake with all its cosmic color changing glory. This project is part was created by FriendsWithYou, a collaboration between Los Angeles-based artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III. They created this project in hopes of “spreading the positive message of Magic, Luck and Friendship”Blue MoonMoon & StarsSuper Moon in Seoul

The project itself consists of a 60-foot round giant inflatable moon and 8 small stars, which orbit around it. The moon lights up at night and sends an array of beautiful pastel lights dancing across the waters as the display shifts from one color to the next. It’s really lovely and a great spot to take a date, if you don’t mind a crowd.Super Moon Pop-UpPost Cards

There is also a pop-up gift shop that sells a bunch of super cute FriendsWithYou merchandise. There are a variety of items to choose from such as postcards, pens, keychains, tote bags, magnets, etc. However, the best item in the shop by far is the mini Super Moon lamp. It’s a replica of the actual installation piece and even changes color. I knew I had to have it and at only 18,000, it was a real steal!FriendsWithYou PouchSuper Moon Lamp

In addition to the exhibit on the lake, there is also a FriendsWithYou cloud bounce house, inflatable mascots and a few other installation pieces inside the Lotte World Mall. So if you feel like checking out more of the exhibit pieces and maybe doing a bit of shopping you can head over to the mall.Lotte World MallCloud Bounce House

Personally I really enjoyed the exhibit. It’s cute, colorful and, quite frankly, completely my style. It doesn’t take up much time to view and take some quick pictures, so it’s a nice spot to check out after dinner or while strolling through the park. My only complaint would be the huge mobs of people all crowding the area trying to snap the perfect shop. If you don’t mind a bit of pushing and waiting, then be sure to check it out this week before it’s gone.Moon Puppy
