With Halloween quickly approaching, some of you may be scrambling to put the final touched on your costumes (like me) or perhaps you made a last minute decision to dress up. Whatever the case, it can be a little challenging to find the perfect costume in Korea. Luckily there are a few good costume stores in Seoul, one of which caters to otaku’s like myself.
Hellow Shop (헬로우샵) not only has a great selection of anime related costumes, wigs and accessories, but also a wide variety of other character costumes like pirates, superheroes and disney princesses. They even have cozy full body animal costumes for only ₩30,000. What’s even better is that they rent costumes! So, if you don’t want to clutter your already cramped closet with a costume you’re only going to wear once… this is the way to go.
The shop itself looks like it may have been a store once upon a time, but is now more of a warehouse. When I first walked in, I thought I would get turned away because it didn’t seem to be an actual store, but the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Although their English was a bit limited, it wasn’t difficult to tell them what I was looking for and have them find it for me. Unfortunately, because they mainly deal with online orders there wasn’t any way for me to actually browse through their inventory.
While the store is great, I would highly recommend using their website if you aren’t pressed for time. There isn’t anything in the store that you can’t get from their website, but the only downside is that it is all in Korean. So if your Korean isn’t up to pare I would recommend asking a friend for a little help, it will definitely worth it. They have a great selection of good quality items for very reasonable prices. You can check it out HERE. Until next time…
is it still opened? 😮
Yes I believe so Ryu ^^ I haven’t been there in a while, but their website is still up and running. It’s full of the latest cosplay, so I’m sure the store is still open too.
Do you remember ever seeing contacts there?
In store… no. They may have them on their website though.
