Haebongchon Guided Ghost Tour

As we move further into October, people stateside begin to anticipate one of the most exciting nights of the year… Halloween! Living in Korea I had come to terms that there would be certain holidays that I would have to give up: American Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Super Bowl Sunday and even Halloween. As the expat community continues to grow and the younger Korean generation gains more interest in our customs, traces of foreign holidays are beginning to make their way to Korea. Halloween in particular has started to make a small but growing presence in Korea every year.

Twice a year, HBC Fest takes place in Haebongchon (near Noksapyeong Station) to celebrate music, life and art. It has become a very popular artist showcase and this year it will be taking place on October 17th, 18th & 19th. What’s exciting is that in addition to the usual performances, an HBC Ghost Tour has been added to the itinerary! For one night only, they will be holding guided tours of the crooked streets of Seoul’s historic Haebongchon. A tour guide will take you to several spots rumored to be haunted, with warm bodies reenacting cold crimes and skilled artists recreating horrifying scenes for your amusement!HBC Ghost Tours

Four tours will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 and 8:30pm. It will begin in front of Dope Corn and last about 35 minutes. There is also a 10,000 admission fee, but all proceeds will go to the upcoming production of “Nightmare Before Christmas: the Musical” by Playworks Seoul. I will get you more info on that later.

What better way to get into the Halloween spirit right?!? I recommend reserving a spot just in case a certain time slot gets over crowded. You can get more information, make reservations or message them on their Facebook event page HERE or visit their website HERE. So until next time, Happy Haunting!
