What to See, Eat and Do in Korea (and Beyond)
If you’re visiting Korea in May, dress for warm weather but make sure to bring a light jacket or sweater for the nights when the temperature drops low. there are quite a few night events and festivals in May, so you want to make sure your wardrobe is flexible.
Oido (오이도) is a coastal area located in Siheung City just southwest of Seoul. For those of us who live in Seoul, it’s a pretty popular destination for day trips and weekend getaways, particularly during the warmer months. Since it’s a pretty easy one and a half hour trip there by subway, it’s a great way to enjoy those costal city vibes without having to go all the way east to Gangneung or down south to Busan.
The Yeosu Nangman Pocha is everything that you could hope for from a Korean pocha night market. The signature red tents are lit up every night from 6 PM until 1 AM. That means the tents are filled with patrons enjoying everything from sushi and fried tempura to octopus and pork stir-fry well into the night.
April is one of the best times to visit Korea with warm weather, cherry blossom festivals, and outdoor events to enjoy.
Cherry blossom groves are a dime-a-dozen in Seoul, but finding just the right scenic spot to spend the first few days of spring is an art. Our personal favorites are the well curated lakeside walking paths of Seokchon Lake, the crowded festivities of Yeouido Park, and the neighborhood vibes of the Gyeongui Line park. And now we’d like to add the Ansan Cherry Blossom Forest to the list!
March is officially the start of spring, warm weather, cafe culture, and (of course) cherry blossom season. It’s time to put away our winter coats as cafes prepare their outdoor seating just in time for airline tickets to start going up. There’s more to see, eat and experience, but that also means larger crowds.
The forecast for cherry blossom season in 2025 has finally been released. Warmer climates make a slow approach from south meaning Jeju and Busan will see their cherry blossom trees blossom over a week earlier than northern regions like Seoul.
Cafe Pokpo’s popularity has exploded making it one of the most visited spots in Seoul. It’s hard not to see why, there are photos all over Instagram and videos all over TikTok showing off the “waterfall cafe” in Seoul.
