Moonshot BLACKPINK Cosmetics Review

Moonshot BLACKPINK Cosmetics Review

If I look at the K-Pop industry as a whole, I’d have to say the YG Entertainment is probably my favorite company simply because the majority of the artists I like come from their company. This being said, I was a little more than a little curious to check out their cosmetic line. However it seemed a bit gimmicky and I wasn’t totally sold on the concept, so I kept putting it off. Recently I finally got around to giving their shop a visit and here are my thoughts.

Lip Feat

I haven’t worn lipstick much this winter, mostly because I’ve been face deep in scarves and layers of clothing. Now that spring is just around the corner I decided to pick up 2 new matte colors: Vintage Wine (M113) & Muse Pink (M114). I was only going to buy one, but I just couldn’t resist. They have such a great selection of colors and I’m so in love with the design. The casing definitely has a bit of weight to it, so it doesn’t feel or look cheap and plasticky. It’s actually quite sexy. Can lipstick cases be sexy?

This particular line of lipsticks comes in 16 shades (6 matte & 10 semi-matte) inspired by the members of the K-pop group, BLACKPINK. Although they boast a “one swipe pay off” and “long lasting” effect, I didn’t really find this to be the case. You definitely need to touch up throughout the day and apply it 2 or 3 times to achieve the desired color. That being said, I did find that the pigmentation was quite nice and very true to the color of the stick itself. Is it the best lipstick in the world? No, but it is a solid product with a great design. So, if you find a color you like, it is totally worth the purchase.

Lip Glam

Winter has been so cruel to my lips! Another reason why I have avoided lipstick lately. I do not need to draw any extra attention to my fish scale lips. So, that is what inspired this particular purchase. Moonshot’s Lip Glam comes in a hot pink metal case with a silicon applicator tip for easier and more hygienic application. Yet another sexy sexy design that has a bit of a Victoria’s Secret vibe to it.

I’m going to tell you right off the bat that I love this product! More than adding a bit of plumpness to my lips, it does a really great job at protecting them from dryness. Even though the glossiness fades after only a few hours, I can still feel the moisture on my lips long after that. It pairs really nicely with the Lip Feat lipsticks, but it also looks really great on bare lips. Sometimes I wear it to give a little oomph to my everyday look. It’s such a surprisingly great addition to my cosmetic collection.

Face Perfection Balm Cushion

Finally… the cushion! This is what really lured me into the Moonshot store. I was a bit torn as to whether I should get the Microfit Cushion (GD Cushion) or the Face Perfection Balm Cushion (BLACKPINK Cushion), but after swatching them in the store I knew it was going to be the Balm Cushion for me.

Many Korean cushions, including the Microfit Cushion, have yellow undertones. They’re not always a perfect match for me, but they work pretty well. The Face Perfection Balm Cushion, on the other hand, has more of a pink undertone. I couldn’t believe how well it blended with my skin tone! When I first started to apply it, I thought nothing was happening until I started seeing redness and blemishes disappearing. It was seriously like photoshopping my face. The coverage is about a medium to high (unlike the low coverage of the Microfit Cushion), but it’s definitely buildable if you need a bit more.

Since it’s a “balm” cushion, I was a bit worried it would make my face super dewy as opposed to the supposed “healthy glow” it advertised. Ah yes, ever the pessimist. However, again I was surprised to find that it did just that. Instead of whitening/ brightening my skin, it gave me a very natural healthy glow with a bonus of SPF 50+ PA+++. It also gave my skin that extra bit of moisture that it’s been craving all winter long! I’m really kicking myself now for not trying it out sooner!

So obviously I am head over heals for this cushion. I really didn’t expect to like it so much (or at all). The packaging is very minimalist in all the best ways and it comes with a mesh cushion, which helps apply the product a bit more evenly. It comes in three colors. I got 301, which I think will work really well for me in the summer when I start to tan a bit, but I think I could also wear 201 in the winter.

All in all, I have to say I am quite impressed with the overall design and quality of Moonshot’s cosmetics. I am really pleased with ALL my purchases, but if I had to pick one… the Face Perfection Balm Cushion stole the show. Moonshot has definitely got a new customer here and I’m expecting more great products from them in the future. Don’t let me down YG!
