Picture Yourself @ Social Club Seoul (소셜클럽서울)

There is something very rewarding about finding pretty places on Instagram and then actually going to those places. While I do come across many of the cafes I blog about by chance, there are those that call to me from the alluring images on Instagram. Social Club Seoul was just such a place.

I was at the gym looking at food pics on Instagram (because, you know… why not?), when I came across a pic of some super fluffy pancakes. The cafe happened to be relatively close to my house and I knew it was fate… I had to make them mine. So over the weekend, the boyfriend and I headed on over to get our brunch on.

The front of the cafe was lined with glass windows and doors. Inside, it was completely white. Long white drapes covered the windows, sparkling chandeliers hung from the ceiling and the tables and chairs were covered in white cloth. It was like walking into a room of a mansion that was not currently being used. I thought it was pretty and unique. The boyfriend thought it was lazy and hipsterish. I’ll let you be the judge.

Either way, we still wanted our pancakes. Unfortunately, the cafe didn’t have many tables and it was completely full (which is quite common on the weekends). We decided to walk around outside for a bit, but noticed people starting to pile up inside. So, we went back in to wait with the mob.

It actually didn’t take too long to get a table and soon we were ready to order. I had looked up their menu in advance, so I was totally surprised to see it was almost completely different. Apparently they change their menu every 2 weeks~a month, which is great to keep things fresh and new. Not so great if you really had a craving for pancakes.

Their current dessert was an nectarine cobbler, so we decided to give it a try. We also ordered an iced Social Coffee and a hot Cream Coffee. The drinks were really tasty if you like a sweeter coffee drink. I obviously can’t speak for all the drinks, but the two we ordered were sweet, too sweet for my boyfriend’s taste.

As for the cobbler, it was just like Mary Poppins… practically perfect in every way! The nectarines were soft and the breading was slightly crisp. It had a natural sweetness from the fruit that was complimented by a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Though we were disappointed by the absence of pancakes, there was no denying that this was a good cobbler.

Sipping on our coffee and looking around the cafe, we noticed everyone was taking selfies… a ton of selfies. I guess it wasn’t hard to see why. White backdrop + natural lighting = perfect selfie studio. Though there wasn’t a whole lot of decor, the cafe had some serious Instagram potential. I myself go my fair share of selfies. Trust me, it can’t be helped.

Overall, I don’t think it’s a cafe I would visit often, let alone go to by myself. It is the kind of place I would recommend going to with some friends to catch up and take some pretty pictures. It’s a nice change of scene and definitely a cafe that will peak everyones interest.
