Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival (석촌호수 벚꽃축제)

Cherry blossom season is a much anticipated time of year, particularly in Asia. There are all sorts of cherry blossom festivals held all over Korea. Typically, I attend the one in Yeouido. It’s one of the most popular ones to check out in Seoul, but it can also be one of the most crowded. So, this year Uyu, the boyfriend and I decided to change it up and check out the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival.

Though not 100% in bloom there were definitely enough blossoms to satisfy the senses and my camera lens. There were food trucks, live bands and little handmade trinkets for sale. Of course I had to have some rainbow cotton candy! Though I’m not big on cotton candy, I knew it would look beautiful in pictures. Uyu and I are starting to make a habit of taking cotton candy pictures together.

This year’s cherry blossom “trend” was a cute little cherry blossom hair clip (벚꽃 머리 클립). Everyone was wearing one! At only ₩2,000 a piece, I couldn’t resist snatching one up for myself… and my pup. It definitely put us in a festive mood.

The crowds weren’t too bad, though it was still crowded. We went on Friday, so it was more of a couples, older students and pet parents kind of blend. There were less children, families and large groups, which meant we didn’t have to wait forever just to get one good shot without a bunch of people in it. It was actually very enjoyable experience. One of the best cherry blossom festivals yet!If you have the chance, definitely check out the cherry blossoms in Korea. They are absolutely breathtaking and definitely worth your time. So grab some cotton candy, put a flower clip in your hair and take some pictures!

Someone told me that dogs are not allow ed on the lake paths. Is that true? Want to know before I go there with my dog….

    • Not to my knowledge. I always see tons of puppers on their daily walks out there, but laws and rules regarding dogs are constantly changing out here. So, I could be wrong? I haven’t been there recently, so I can’t say for sure. However, the last couples of times I went, there were no problems.
