연어상회: All You Can Eat Salmon Sashimi

연어상회 isn’t really a new restaurant, but it seems to have gotten more traction as of late since they seem to be popping up in almost every neighborhood. Outside of the native Korean community, I can’t say I’ve met too many people who have even heard of this place, but you should. Here’s why.연어상회연어상회 (Interior)

연어상회 is an all you can eat salmon sashimi restaurant. It’s a chain and there are several locations, I like the location near 신촌역 (Sinchon Station) because it’s a bit more spaced out, seating wise. The interior is pretty simple with wooden tables set for two or four, metal bar dividers and menu items painted on the walls. What I like most about this location would be the open deck seating, which is perfect for those cool afternoons or nice evenings.연어상회 (deck)연어상회 (wall)

On to the menu! The all you can eat salmon is available in two different set options. The first set comes with salad, 오징어 튀김 (fried squid) and 해물 부추 전 (Korean seafood pancake) for only ₩13,900 Won a person. If you’re feeling a bit hungrier than that, the second option comes with everything above plus a 연어 덮밥 (salmon rice bowl) for ₩15,900 Won. Either way you go, you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.Salmon

As far as quality goes, it’s not bad! It’s not served half frozen and it’s better than any sushi buffet I’ve ever been to out here. The salmon is soft, flavorful and is cut in generously thick slices. The first plater is served with onions, wasabi, tartar sauce, a bowl of roe and a full serving of salmon. After that the refills are only half a platter, but you can ask for as many refills as you’d like.Salad오징어 튀김

While the salmon is the main attraction, the side dishes are really tasty too. The salad is served first and is typically a simple ricotta cheese salad. After that comes the fried squid, which is made with a lightly seasoned batter. Finally you are given the seafood pancake which is the size of an entire plate. It’s soft with crispy edges and is totally addictive. The salmon ALWAYS comes last, so it’s pace yourselves otherwise you may find you don’t have enough room to fully enjoy the main course.해물 부추 전

If you don’t mind a drink with your meal, I highly recommend trying their apple mango makgeolli (막걸리). The alcohol taste is practically non-existent and the apple mango flavour is sweet, fruity and fresh. A pitcher will run you ₩8,000 and it’s the perfect serving for two. If you need a remedy for the hot summer days that lie ahead of us, this would be a good place to start.막걸리Apple Mango Makgeolli

Below I have listed the info for the location near 신촌역 (Sinchon Station). However, If you click the website link you can find a listing of all their locations and search for the one nearest to you. Until next time, happy eating!Salmon Feast

Hello! I’m keen to try this place out but I am wondering if they serve other types of meat aside frm salmon?

    • Hi Dee! They primarily serve salmon here with a few other dishes that have mixed seafood in them.

Ah that’s great to hear. I can’t eat meat so it’s good to know its seafood.

Hi Lexi! What a lovely blog, glad I found it! Can you please tell me if this information is still valid since 2006 and the place open?

    • Thanks so much for checking out my blog! This place is still open, though many of the other locations have shut down now ☹ Everything is still more or less the same, but I think the prices have gone up a bit.
