Get Fresh with Mint Heim (민트하임)

Having just opened at the end of January, Mint Heim is here just in time for spring. In the shell of what was once a large  Korean style home lies this dainty little cafe in the heart of 홍대 (Hongdae). The uniqueness of this cafe lies in its fresh mint theme, as you might guess from the name. Decked out in a white and mint green color pattern with mint green chairs and painted mint leaves on the walls, the interior really gives off a fresh spring feel.Mint HeimMint Heim (wall)

Of course what would a mint themed cafe be without a mint themed menu to go with it? From cakes and tarts to cookies and tiramisu, they’ve got everything to fulfil your minty needs. While they do carry one or two non-mint items, the mint infused goodness is what draws me in.Mint Heim (Interior)Mint Cookies

I’m so in love with their Mint Oreo Cheesecake right now. The Oreo cookie crust is nice and crumbly, while still being able to hold form. The filling is the perfect consistency of thick and creamy. The classic “cheesecake” flavour is definitely there with a nice mint kick to it. Additionally, there are pieces of Oreo in the filling reinforcing the cookie flavour. Finally, it’s topped with a pile of thick Oreo pieces and Oreo crumble. It’s not easy to balance 3 distinct flavours in one dessert, but they really make it happen. The overall taste reminds me of Girl Scout Thin Mints… dangerously addictive.Mint Oreo CheesecakeMint Oreo Cheesecake (top)

If you like tarts, they also have a pretty tasty mint chocolat tart. The tart consists of a solid, yet slightly crumbly chocolate crust that tastes a bit like a brownie. The crust is layered with a thick chocolate ganache and topped with a fluffy pile of mint chip whipped cream. The overall flavour is quite minty and it really leaves your mouth feeling super fresh. Personally I wish it were slightly sweeter, but if you like your desserts a little less sweet this is a great option. Also, if you pair it with a sweeter drink, then the balance is perfect!mint chocolat tartmint chocolat tart (slice)

As far as drinks go, I think the Mint Caffe Latte is always a safe bet if you don’t know where to start. I’ve had it both hot and iced and I have to admit that it looks a lot prettier iced. You get a lovely 3 tier gradient of light brown, white and green and it’s very instagramable. The hot version, however, isn’t much to look at but you get more of that minty taste that seems to get lost in the iced version.Mint Caffe Latte

For non-caffeinated drinks, their 치키차카초코초코쵸 하임치노 (Chiki Chaka Choco Choco Heimchino) is to die for. This is a blended chocolate chip drink topped with a light mint green whipped cream and garnished with rainbow sprinkles and crowned with an Andes mint. The drink itself tastes a bit like a chocolate chip cookie, which is awesome! It’s also very colourful and aesthetically pleasing, like a party in a cup!치키차카초코초코쵸 하임치노치키차카초코초코쵸 하임치노 (close)
