Children’s Musical Theatre in Korea

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the one week hiatus. One of my jobs out here in Korea is working as a Choreographer and Assistant Artistic Director for a children’s musical theatre company. It’s been a busy couple of months, having just opened our second studio and preparing for our end of the year showcases.Siamese CatsCoxy CatLovey CatAlpha Cat

Last week, I had 4 days worth of shows along with tech and dress rehearsals. It was a lot of work and I’m still exhausted, but it was totally worth it. Most of the kids I train speak English as a second language and it’s amazing how much talent they have. Dancing, singing and acting in a language you’re not entirely familiar with is no easy feat, but they work so hard.CatsLovey CatLovey Cat DanceJellicle CatsScat Cat DanceScat Cat

Anywho, all of our musicals are written by our director and include populars songs from other musicals. One of our shows was based on the musical Cats. We had some phenomenal makeup artists come in to really help bring everything together. Although I was running the dress rehearsal and running around most of the time, I did manage to snap a few photos here and there. So, just thought I’d share them with you all.Stray Cat StrutOdd CatOdd Cat SoloGumbie CatAlpha Cat Speech Wiz Cat

I recently moved to korea (due to personal reasons) and currently learning korean but im still in a basic stage, graduated on costume design for performance in london and would love a job related to my studies (even if its not specifically costume) so far the only work option i have found is as an english teacher.. any reply would be appreciated, cheers 🙂
